Vennue Summer 2008 Question

What do you think? In the RETROspect article "Notes From The Margin" Brian Counihan comments: "I don’t think that students, society, or art is best served by thinking about art as a thing that only a ’talented person’ makes. I don’t think art is solely a collectible for the rich, or a complex enigma for intellectuals. High school kids and adults can be transformed by art as a way of thinking, if art can be seen as something you do rather than something you sell."

What do you think art is?
Do think anyone can do art?
Is art something you make to sell or something you have to do no matter what?

Art is something such as beauty. It is what's in the "eye of the beholder". If you have emotion then you can make art. Whether is a drawling, painting, sculpture or performing art it is on however the creator makes in their own image. To see it in the right aspect and appreciate it in your own form is as simple has having imagination. Art is priceless, but most do put a price tag on it which is ok because they always tell us growing up "do what you love and if you do that then we will be happy". So in saying that, there is nothing wrong with selling your art in its original form as long as it makes you smile and that someone else can enjoy what you heart and mind created.

What do you think art is?
Art is a little of this...and a little of that...that's why it's so wonderful. Everyone has it in common, but it's never same (even when done by the same person)

Do you thing anyone can do art?
SURE! Art is a release of your creative spirit. Art is pure expression of who you are.

Is art something you make to sell or something you have to do no matter what?
A true artist does NO MATTER WHAT. That's why art has such passion. One day it maybe overlooked...and next day you can't stop looking at it.
